My laptop will not boot and is displaying "No bootable device, Hit any key"

I've had this laptop for just under a year now and recently it has been crashing a lot, earlier today it crashed and I couldn't do anything so I left it alone for a couple of hours and came back only to find the message "No bootable device, hit any key" I tried restarting the computer but the same message appears as the computer doesn't go to the login screen, what should I do?

 

 

I am currently running windows 8 (which is the system it came with when I bought it) and I'm using Packard bell TE11HC I have no bootable disk as the laptop didn't come with one.

 

 

I've not lost much files as my work is immediately uploaded to cloud services as I'm working, I'm just worried as I'm a student and I really can't afford another laptop.
