Cannot connect to Windows store app error "Could not be installed"

I have Windows 8 in my pc. The windows store app is working and showing all the available apps and tools. But when I click to install it, it shows a message on top right corner of the screen stating - 'XYZ could not be installed'. On checking the details, it shows that 'you are not connected to the internet' whereas I am.

 

I have installed all the windows updates, there is no firewall blocking the store and I use a proxy server connection to connect to the internet. Many of my friends using the same proxy server access and use the windows store. Also I am not able to update to Windows 8.1 as the store isn't working. Please address the issue.
