Windows 8 update problem "error Code 8024402F "

I bought a notebook two days ago with preinstalled activated windows 8 (single language) os. I wanted it to be upgraded to windows 8.1 which require some essential windows 8 update (as specified in the windows store), so, I tried to check for windows update. The system is set to automatically install updates. My network connection is okay and I didn't install any additional softwares on my new notebook. Though, I am facing problem, everytime I am trying to update my windows and the following error report is being displayed:

 

Windows could not search for new updates

 

There was a problem checking for updates

 

Error found: Code 8024402F Windows update ran into a problem

 

Most recent check for updates: Never

 

Updates were installed: Never

 

I tried the troubleshooting, but it didn't help too. Please, let me know if any additional information is required.
