Guest Bobmdva Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 I am experiencing frequent crashes of file explorer (Windows 8) when doing long searches (thousands of folders and files). Otherwise searches are running okay. Are there guidelines for the limit on number of items that file explorer can handle without having this problem. When explorer crashes there is no error message it just suddenly disappears, get a blank green screen for an instant, and then back to the desktop. After it crashes I can restart explorer, but any subsequent searches will crash after only a few seconds, until I reboot. I suspect it is running out of memory for the internal files it maintains, but that's only a guess. Any help greatly appreciated. Continue reading... Quote
