How do I add a networked printer?

The printer has a wired connection to a router. Its local IP address is 192.168.1.105. The printer name is NPI64867B.

My laptop has a wireless connection to the same router. Obviously, network access works fine, since I can submit this posting. Also, I can ping the printer IP address from the laptop.

In the Printers control panel, I click on Add Printer, select "A network printer", select "Browse for printer", then click on Next. The following appears:

Note that NPI64867B does not appear in the "Shared printers" list. Should it?

If I manually enter NPI64867B into the Printer field and click on Next (should that work?), I get the following error:

If it matters, I have another networked printer configured on the computer. It is for another home network, so it is not connected now. Its printer name is NPI6AAA13. I deselected the option "Always print to this device, even if its IP address changes", to no avail.

The port name of the existing networked printer is the printer product name, HPLaserJet200colorMFPM276nw. The printer I am trying to add has the same product name. Is that a problem? If so, can I change the pre-existing port name to an arbitrary name (currently unused)?
