Guest MissFishstick Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 Hello. I got a 'new to me' refurbished Dell D630 in January. Last sat. I got a 'malicious software trying to attack!" message from PANDA. I immediately scanned with PANDA and spybot, caught several things, then shut the system down, waited and turned it on. I get the boot screen of death, which has 3 options: win7, panda scan, or windows scan for problems. I've run all three. No problems. I've scanned 3 times with spybot, 3 times with PANDA, and five times with various window and panda products, deep system scans. There have been a few things here and there picked up, but nothing earth-shattering after the initial scan that had malware picked up, and 'suspicious incidents'. I've signed in multiple times and it's still got the black screen...and is functioning nice and snappy. It's just got that screen hanging there when I sign in. A PANDA rep said it's probably my hard drive. (he was trying to get me to sign up for a $300 scan! The computer cost $200! So...no!) Several questions: If one of my scans initially had been cut off and the desktop closed manually by me (I did have both PANDA and spybot scanning simultaneously...and PANDA finished so I shut the computer down, and signed back in to continue my clean-up. Would that maybe be why the black screen is there and will not reset? 2. I got a renewal from PANDA in May via phone, so if it is shut down by me, I have no way of restoring it. I've asked 3 times for help with that from their folks at IT, but received no response. 3. If I copy files now in my computer to my usb....and everything file-wise is clean...should that be ok? Or is there a way to then scan the usb? 4. Can the programs on the desktop be copied, and thought of as clean, or just let them go and reinstall. 5. I have a reboot usb of panda, but it was during the time it had issues, should I rescan and make another since it's now 'clean'? 6. How do I find a encrypted program for email? I am using startpage for my browser. Thank you for your help. Continue reading... Quote
