I had a call from someone named James Watson at Pd inforwise pvt.ltd.: http://pdinfowise.com/. He said that his company works for Microsoft and had received over 5000 error and warning messages from my PC in the last two weeks! He showed me a screen that showed this list and also another list of over 1300 unwanted files installed on my computer. He said he could take all of these away and fix my computer, and he wanted to sell me a new security system, since my Microsoft security system had expired. When I go to Microsoft Security Essentials, I find that my computer is scanned every day about 1:00 am, and that my PC status at the present moment is Protected.

I listened until he wanted to sell me new security protection, but then I questioned whether he is legitimate. I asked how I could contact him if I need to, and he gave me his phone number, which is on the website home page: 1-8505022885, extension 110.

I have certainly been having some computer troubles recently, as the Microsoft Community can attest, but this unsolicited telephone call worried me. What can I do about this? Has some harm been done by his call and whatever he has sent to my computer?

Thanks,

Ruth
