How do I open a PMS file on a now defunct Freecom HDD?

Hi, I have a now dismantled (but still functioning with the aid of a bridge)Freecom Classic Hard Drive which has several dozen music videos on that were originally MPG's when first uploaded. However, they have been converted into PMS files and now Windows media player will not open them. Is there any way that I can retrieve and hopefully convert them back to MPG so that I can view and relocate them to another drive? I am not in a position to pay Freecom between 300-600 Euros for data recovery!!!

Many thanks'

Yours Hopefully,

Steve.
