I had a Toshiba laptop with Windows 7 but the motherboard fried and I was forced to by a new Toshiba with Windows 8.

When I plug the old hard drive into my SATA bridge and then into my new computer, it will recognize the device plugged in but will not show it in My Computer so that I can pull my data over to my new computer. With my last computer, I was able to do this with my former Vista drive.

When I plug the drive into my work computer, Windows 7, it immediately shows up in My Computer and I can click through the folders that are not under my main user that is password protected.

I have done the simple troubleshooting that Windows recommends but I am still not seeing the drive. Is there a way to recover my data?

Thanks
