Guest Louise Porter Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 Thanks Life Boats, Your instructions were a tremendous help to me. There was over 500 malware files on my computer found by MalwareBytes, I also did a defrag and 2 add'l malware popped up. So, I think my computer may be a bit cleaner but it does not answer the question as to why I would have gotten the updates in the first place. The updates appeared as they have in the past with the little yellow icon indicating that "Windows have updates to be installed." Unfortunately, it was only after I had initialized the updates that I read the titles and realized that I should not have gotten these but could not stop the installation. The tech I spoke with at the MS corporate office gave me the impression that the updates were valid but she couldn't answer any of my questions. I don't think there's much life left in the computer, however, I don't want to be downloading stuff that will shorten what life it has left. It has been suggested to me that I use one of those portable drives that ensures "safe" internet experiences. Do you know anything about those? Again thanks for your help. Continue reading... Quote
