There is an IP address conflict with another system ......

I've read all the articles in this section but still have not found a solution.

I get this on a wireless network. Using a Linksys router with dynamic DHCP (192.168.1.1) and a Linksys range expander (192.168.1.240). The message appears on an Xp workstation but does not appear on the only other workstation connected to the network, which is a laptop running Vista.

I believe the cause of the problem to be the fact that both of these workstations used to be attached to a DSL land line with a DSL modem with IP address of 192.168.1.1. That modem and equipment is gone. Now we are wireless with Exede satellite network.

Here is what steps I have taken to try and get rid of this message on an XP system:

Performed ipconfig /release followed by ipconfig /renew. That didn't work.

Cleared the ARP table on both the XP and Vista workstations.

Disabled the Ethernet port that is not being used on the XP workstation. (a wireless card is being used)

Rebooted after all this.

I don't know where this message is coming from or why. There are no static IPs coded on either of the two workstations. Both workstations know of the 192.168.1.1 IP address as this is the default gateway for the wireless network so they need to be aware of that.

Where do you think I should look next. I'm confident that there are no hard-coded IP addresses on the network. The router is performing DHCP and neither workstation has the same IP address. Nor the range expander. Nor the router. All unique. It's frustrating.
