Search by Tags/Authors in a non-indexed Networked Hard Drive

Below, I will Describe what it is, I'm attempting to accomplish.

At my job, we have a networked Hard drive, and everyone has access to this Hard Drive.

Within this Hard Drive, we have at least 3 folders, that contain thousands of pictures (several hundred gigabytes worth).

Now, what I'm trying to do, is make use of the Tag & Author feature that you can use on any jpeg.

Now the problem is, I tagged a couple hundred photos.

I opened "Computer" Navigated to the Z: drive, and in the 'search bar' under 'add filter' only Date Modified, and Size are available. Simply typing in Tags: in the search bar, doesn't work.

Upon research, the "Z" drive needs to be indexed for this function to work.

Is it possible to have this 'z' drive index itself, and have the other computers on this network read that index, file and not have each computer make its own index of this drive?

Would Microsoft Sharepoint simply this? Or is there a way to accomplish this already?

Note: This External networked Hard Drive might also be part of a Computer that's acting as a server. I'm not 100% sure on that though.
