Cannot open anything attached to my e-mails

I think I have inadvertently uninstalled something that I need on my computer.

Any time I receive an e-mail with an attachment or one asking me to open wimp or you tube or any advertisement I cannot open them.

I have taken my computer back about 4 days, but still the problem persists.

Any help would be very welcome as I am finding it very frustrating to say the least as I cannot view anything that is sent to me.
