CD/DVD drive will not read any disks, it just spins the disk, and never pops up on the computer

Original Title: Disk drive troubleshooting.

My disk drive will not read any disks (CD/DVD). I wanted to download Zoo Tycoon 2 to my computer, but when i insert the disk or any disk for that matter.. it just spins the disk, and never pops up on the computer. Any suggestions? Do i have certain settings turned off, or is the disk drive itself? Thanks.
