Failure configuring windows updates - just keeps restarting

Bought a brand new laptop and needed to restart. Now I just get the message 'failure configuring windows updates reverting changes. Do not turn off your computer'. It then eventually restarts and just does the same thing I can't get back into my laptop desktop screen!!! Help!!!
