As you KDE users may know, KWin (the default KDE window manager) is very powerful, and has the potential to allow the desktop cube to be used. What many none-KDE users may not know is that the KWin window manager can be installed on almost any desktop environment, which in turn allows the use of the 3D desktop cube. Installing it is very simple: -Open a terminal windows -type "sudo apt-get install kde-window-manager -type "kwin --replace" The desktop will flicker for a second or two, but will then return to normal using the KDE window manager.
