Guest ReeceJones Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 Hi, A while back I had installed Ubuntu on an external hard drive, and I stupidly didn't remove my Windows 8 hard drive. So I had accidentally installed Grub on my Windows 8 boot stuff. Just now I have borrowed my friend's Windows 8 Pro disc to try to fix the boot record (I have a preinstalled Windows 8 on my laptop). So I booted up the disk and used command line to repair the boot: bootrec /fixmbr bootrec /fixboot Now Grub seems to be removed; when I click Ubuntu in the "Use a Device" advanced options it doesn't boot to Grub it just boots normally. But that's where the problem is: I want to remove the Ubuntu option in the Use a Device area (that's in advanced boot options when one holds down shift while clicking restart). Is there any way to remove it? EDIT: Yes i know that what i did wouldn't be approved by microsoft or anything but still could someone please help me out? Thanks Continue reading... Quote
