Microsoft Wireless Keyboard causing system crashes

I built my own computer a few months ago and installed Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit and decided to go buy a Microsoft Wireless Keyboard 3000 since my old keyboard was going on the fritz and my System was plaguing me with random freezing where everything froze and the HDD Light would stay solid and when I would attempt to boot my computer up it would always shut off at the starting windows logo and the only way to get into windows was to run windows start-up repair ( the utility NEVER found any problems) but it had to finish and once it reset my computer would start up fine.

When I go to power down my computer a screen would appear saying windows is waiting for programs to close but there would be no programs listed. This problem persisted for a couple months even after doing a clean install of windows. I tried every conceivable test on my software and hardware to find a solution to this problem and then i decided to try booting the computer with a regular wired usb keyboard and now my system runs fine. I feel stupid for not trying this earlier.

The question is: Is there a way i can fix this problem with my Microsoft Wireless Keyboard 3000? Seeing as i paid a fortune for it new from a retailer. It is past the date of returning it for another one or I would just do that I have tried uninstalling and re-installing the drivers but the problem persists.

Also is this a known problem for these keyboards?
