Email Attachments Not Opening, Instead Acts as Though I Want to Save The Document

All of a sudden, when I am trying to open an attachment, it acts like I want to save it instead of opening it. Instead of the document opening, it takes me to my various drives....as though I wanted to "save" it instead of open it. What could be the problem?
