Microsoft Security Essentials failed to clean up threats (Win32 & 64)

MSE repeatedly instructed to restart in order to clean up, without success.

 

Defender Offline was also unsuccessful.

 

I think that this was a Fake Alert.

 

The final outcome is that I cannot even turn on my laptop.

 

Lenovo with Windows 7 - Home Edition.

 

Turning on the laptop ir displays the Lenovo logo, a black screen and repeats this cycle continuously.

 

I tried pressing F8 but to no avail.

 

Any suggestions?????
