I'm trying to find out why my mouse freezes up and fails to respond in Linux Mint 16. When I first downloaded the OS, my problem was printer-oriented. When I solved that with a $5.00 printer from a garage sale, then my mouse quit working. Nothing I have tried has solved the problem. What happens, it works just long enough to click on something, then it freezes up. I have tried a USB mouse, a wireless mouse, and both together, with no success. My brother has three Linux systems on his computers and has no problems, and others have no questions (or answers) because their mouse works fine for them. What's my problem? If I didn't still have my Windows 7 laptop, I'd be dead in the water!
