Video software download has taken over my browser?

I recently downloaded some video editing software which was recommended to me by a friend. However the download seems to have taken control of my browser because every time I open a new tab I get this in the url box

http://www.trovi.com/?gd=&ctid=CT3324066&octid=EB_ORIGINAL_CTID&ISID=172B0EDA-A147-4BAC-933B-E26CB0F6ABAF&SearchSource=69&CUI=&SSPV=&Lay=1&UM=5&UP=SPD0B503F3-9A81-4834-B135-BCCD8E356355

and the search box is set to bing and the centre of the blank page has adverts. Any idea how I can get rid of it?
