Ubuntu GNOME 14.04 EDID Checksum Error

Hey,

I need some help on how i can solve this issue. I have one 27" monitor and a 22" in an extended desktop setup, using HDMI and DVI-I respectively through a GTX 760.

Although recently (as of today) i have been getting a EDID error on the second 22" monitor, very similar to what i have presented below.

 

*NOTE: This is not my exact error but close enough to use it as an example*

I realize that "EDID" is the extended display identification data, and that it is a unique code for each digital monitor telling the source what displays it is capable of outputting.

 

My issue is that Ubuntu GNOME 14.04 (Linux) is the only OS that is having this problem or showing an signs of a problem with my 22" monitor. As I can run Windows Server 2012 R2 or Windows Server 2008 with the extended display setup and it will work fine without any issues. That is using the exact same cables and Monitors in the same configuration throughout each OS.

 

This leads me to think that if it was really a "true" EDID issue, that Windows would also present a similar issue because the EDID would actually be corrupt or invalid, yes??

 

Which makes me believe that the problem is related to Xorg or Ubuntu. However, the big question is how can i fix it? when i have tried using the none proprietry graphics driver as well as removing and reinstalling NVIDIA's proprietary graphics driver. Both without any success.

 

If anyone has any suggestion as to how i can fix or repair the problem, that would be great.
