Problems burning Video clips

I have a Canon Powershot SX30is and experience problems burning video clips to DVD. I use Windows XP and experience no problems in burning stills to CD. Question; do I need special software to enable me to burn video DVD's from my hard drive?

 

Help would be appreciated.
