Guest nnamde Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 Hi, I’m having a lot of trouble with connecting to the internet on my desktop. Everything was working fine until last Thursday May 15, 2014. I noticed the internet would cut out intermittently, I thought it was my modem or router, I carried out comprehensive trouble shooting with the router company and I know the router works. My cable company retraced all my external connections changed all adapters and even gave me a brand new modem. The problem persists. I know the connection, modem and router work because I can always connect to my Wi-Fi network with my phone and laptop. I thought maybe there was an issue with the wired Ethernet connection so switched to the computer’s Wi-Fi connection but the exact same thing happens. After 30 minutes to an hour the internet stops working completely, except for Gmail for some reason. Eventually I found that if is restarted my computer the internet would go back to working perfectly for another 30 minutes to an hour. Now it’s getting worse because sometimes even after I restart it still doesn’t work. As an aside, adware called “Supra Savings” founds it’s way on to my computer and I have done everything suggested online to remove these adds but they still appear and sometimes they automatically take me to pages Ii did not request. I am not sure if all this is related but I thought I should mention it. Here are my computer specs: Operating system: Windows 8.1 Pro Processor: Intel® Core™ i7-3770l CPU @ 3.50 Ghz 3.50 Ghz Installed memory (RAM): 12.0 GB System type: 64-bit Operating System, x64-based processor Ethernet Card: Qualcomm Atheros AR8161 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller (NDIS 6.30) Wi-Fi Connection: Dual Stream 802.11n Wireless LAN Card There’s something going on internally with the software that’s causing the internet to not connect to the computer, either by Ethernet or Wi-Fi, other devices work without issue. When I start the computer, everything works great, then after ~ 30 minutes, certain links doesn’t work, then certain pages do not work, and eventually nothing works. My Windows help pages do not seem to load properly to allow me troubleshoot myself. Can you please help? Thank you. Continue reading... Quote
