Wifi does not have valid ip configuration

I've recently installed windows 8.1 and I have not been able to connect to the internet ever since . I've tried various remedies I searched for on various forums like using the elevated command prompts netsh winsock reset catalog and netsh int ip reset reset.log hit , even tried ipconfig /renew andipconfig /release . But still nothing . I also tried removing AVG but still nothing . I'm pretty sure its also not a router related issue as all the other computers in my home connect to the wifi and in addition to that I've tried to connect the laptop to different routers and still nothing .
