Need help with Windows Power Shell

I never intended to engage Windows Power Shell, but somehow I did. I guess I unintentionally hit a hot key? First, Windows Media Center kept booting up on its own. I tried to remove any file associations with WMC. Suddenly my icons changed and files such as Restore are now PS files. I tried booting with my Windows Boot Disk created when I first bought the computer, but I don't know how to get the restore process going if I cannot access the Restore function. If you do not already know, I am as dumb as a box of rocks. I have no hard core computer experience. I have built the hardware but I am senseless about how it runs. I can make lots of programs work just fine, but the software guts is not a place where I should be allowed to roam unsupervised.

Any brave hearts who will try to help me?
