Posted May 24, 201410 yr If I switch from one Windows 7 based a program to another, many times it will result in a black screen. The monitor power on blinks (it's usually on solid) I've read through a number of posts, and tried several things. If I press the "Windows" button on the keyboard, unplug the monitor, wait 15 -30 minutes, and plug it back in, it will usually return to the Windows screen. Here's the scoop: I have updated all the drivers....still happens I have removed all games...still happens I've run defrag and disk cleanup....no luck I checked power options....nope I've run Windows trouble shooter, no recommendations. I changed the following hardware; monitor, DVI cable, video card, motherboard, processor. Still happens...... I performed a "Clean Boot", still happens. I'm getting old. This has aged me faster. My last two steps are to reload Windows 7 and if no luck, abandon Windows. Current System Configuration: Monitor = Viewsonic VX-922 Video card = NVIDIA GeForce GTX550Ti MB = ASUS w Intel ICH7 8 MB RAM Processor = Intel E-7500 Core 2 Duo 2.93 600 Watt PS After a "Clean Boot", I stick an older game CD in the CD drive to reinstall it, goes to install, then blank screen.
