Hi all I have recently installed ArtistX an ubuntu variation

moksha@Desktop:~$ uname -r

3.8.0-35-generic

I have had intermittant results with my soundcard

moksha@Desktop:~$ lspci | grep -i audio

01:00.1 Audio device: NVIDIA Corporation GK107 HDMI Audio Controller (rev a1)

05:02.0 Multimedia audio controller: VIA Technologies Inc. VT1720/24 [Envy24PT/HT] PCI Multi-Channel Audio Controller (rev 01)

The Envy controller, it worked for a while then it stopped, obviously it is detected I would like to get it working again and ** big ask ** try and make the setting stick.

I guess this could have gone in peripherals too, I wasn't sure.

cheers

** Edit 1 **

some more info

moksha@Desktop:~$ cat /proc/asound/cards

0 [NVidia ]: HDA-Intel - HDA NVidia

HDA NVidia at 0xf7080000 irq 17

1 [iCE1724 ]: ICE1724 - ICEnsemble ICE1724

ICEnsemble ICE1724 at 0xc180, irq 19

I am wondering if pulse and alsa are conflicting somehow

##edit 2 ##

I have things running again after doing

# apt-get autoremove pulseaudio

# apt-get install pulseaudio

and of the 3 envy options in settings > sound selecting the analogue option
