Windows defender real time protection can't be turned on

I have been using windows 8 for a while now, but just encountered this problem recently.

 

 

Not able to turn on real-time protection on my windows defender and it gives me an error code of 0x800705b4. By going through forums I have seen different types of ways to fix this issue however I can't seem to find a way to fix this issue. Here are a few tips I found which did not work:

 

 

1. Third party application - most people say windows defender conflicts with other antivirus applications installed, however I do not have any. I used to have advanced systemcare ultimate but is now uninstalled. Also, I found on forums that after installing and uninstalling ASCU windows defender does not work anymore for some reason, is this true?

 

 

2. Going to services.msc and checking if windows defender is running. Did this already, windows defender service status running. Startup type is automatic. NOTE: Also these options are greyed out and I am not able to change these options.

 

 

Any help to fix this will really be appreciated! I want to start using windows defender again and was hoping that someone out there might be able to help me! Thanks!
