Scanned pictures are not saved on one file

Original title: scanning

 

I just got a new Dell insprion 15r and tried to scan to documents jpeg several pages. It scanned to pictures first then I finally got it to documents and am not quite sure how I did that but they all scanned to separate pages and not all on one file. I need to email the file and don't want it to go as 20 separate pages.
