A Few days ago Norton IS (up to date) reported that it had blocked a Trojan attack. I ran Norton Power Eraser and removed the Trojan. Also ran Malware Bytes it reported no problems.

However since then I have noticed strange things.

1. Performance Monitor reports no anti virus product - but Norton IS is running. Have seen other posts regarding this and as it is not causing a problem I am happy to wait for the fully tested fix in the next SP.

2. Performance monitor also reports under alltests OS Checks Failed, OS version check Failed.

3. I have tried to run Fix IT for a similar sounding problem and get the message Trouble shooting cannot continue because an error has occurred. Downloading the troubleshoot utility and running it detects no problem.

4. Also in performance monitor under traceptHeader I get this message 'The WMI data service is not available'.

5. I have tried to run restore but that crashes after it reboots.

6. Admin tools folder was found to be empty but have fixed that by download a new set of tools.

I presume that the Trojan did some damage before it was eliminated.

Is it worth running Windows Repair or is there something else I should do?

Win 7 64 bit SP1 fully up to date, Norton IS fully up to date.

Thank you

Derek
