Guest AlexJames_952 Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 I changed the password on my wireless router. Using Manage wireless networks I right click on the only Network profile there and change the password in the security tab. My PC now connects to the router successfully. However, when I start up the next day, the password in the network profile has reverted to the old password. I have extensively reviewed all the instructions on the Microsoft site and done the following: 1. Manage Wireless Networks, right click, Remove profile. List of profiles is now empty, then after a few seconds, the old profile reappears with old password. 2. In Manage Wireless Networks, create additional profile, so I have new profile with correct password and original profile with new password. Both profiles are visible on list. Then remove old profile, leaving new profile. Wait. After a few seconds, new profile disappears, old profile returns and it now has the old password again. 3. I modify old profile to have new password, remove old profile, restart PC, Manage wireless Networks. Old profile has reappeared with old password. 4. I repeat 3, but uninstall wireless adapter driver as well. Shut down. On restarting, adapter driver is reinstalled automatically. Old profile with old password reappears on Manage Wireless Networks list. Check wireless adapter driver is up to date as per recommended Microsoft process - it is. What do I do now, please? I currently have to modify the old profile every time I start up the computer in order to access the internet. How do I permanently change the profile? Continue reading... Quote
