Guest AaronUSA Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 My computer updated itself the night before last, well it was the 15th of May according to the updates. When I woke up, my computer was sitting at the login screen. I logged on, and received messages: "Windows doesnt know where to find program needed to run this______" and gave me option to search for it. Somewhere......I clicked on Chrome as an option (I had JUST woken up!!!!). Apparently there were quite a few programs I used often that needed my interaction in order for me to go back to using them. Actually I believe it is any executable file on the computer. By the way. My computer DID have an antivirus installe. Thats gone now. I downloaded another copy of AVG, and sure enough I can't use it either (.exe file). When I try to use an .exe file, Chrome launches a window, and tries to get me to download a file. It becomes an ".exe" file, but it isn't. Actually I can run an Adobe Illustrator file. It shows up as a chrome file on taskbar, but it is an Adobe file. However if I try to run AVG, or AVIRA, it goes to "run" but then takes me to a Chrome window, then download the ".exe" file, which is nothing (ghost file?). So I am trying to figure out what is the actual problem? There WERE updates installed on the 15th, right before this "problem" popped up. So is it a Windows problem? Or is it a virus problem?
