Posted May 16, 201410 yr I tried to start my computer and it went into a bad path. No start, but did return the following message: Loading PBR for descriptor 2 . . . done NTLDR is missing Press Ctrl + Alt + Del to restart Needless to say it didn't. I went into the F12 options and started the diagnostics package, clicked on OS won't boot, and after a couple of hours was told everything had passed the tests. Still could not start - after about a 3-hour test. Will try a different test, but I don't hold much hope. What is NTLDR and how can I put a copy wherever it is supposed to go? Am I looking at having to ship the disk unit to a data recovery company? Even if I had data backups on the drive, I can't access them. I realize XP is no longer supported, but I want to move the data to my new Windows 7 computer. Unfortunately, I need to get XP running to move the files.
