I tried to start my computer and it went into a bad path. No start, but did return the following message:

Loading PBR for descriptor 2 . . . done

NTLDR is missing

Press Ctrl + Alt + Del to restart

Needless to say it didn't.

I went into the F12 options and started the diagnostics package,

clicked on OS won't boot, and

after a couple of hours was told everything had passed the tests.

Still could not start - after about a 3-hour test.

Will try a different test, but I don't hold much hope.

What is NTLDR and how can I put a copy wherever it is supposed to go?

Am I looking at having to ship the disk unit to a data recovery company?

Even if I had data backups on the drive, I can't access them.

I realize XP is no longer supported, but I want to move the data to my

new Windows 7 computer. Unfortunately, I need to get XP running to

move the files. I kind of feel this is performance (lack of) rather than

repair and recovery.

Thanks for any help.
