I am using a legal copy of XP. It is my understanding that MS will not do anymore updates for XP. Two weeks ago I awoke to see that MS had still updated my computer even though they claim not to be doing so. Since that time, nothing has functioned correctly. I cannot access browsers. Several things seem to be disabled or poorly functioning.

One obvious item tampered with was my legal copy of WordPerfect Office 12. I was using a legal copy of MS Office 2007. It stopped meeting my requirements when a spreadsheet I was running required more then the allotted 65,000 lines. I tried to get a patch from MS so I could continue using Excel. They would not give me a patch but were happy to sell me the newest version of Office which would meet my needs. I agreed but then found out it would not work on XP. Since MS could not help me, I switched to the WordPerfect Package. My Quattro Pro now is at 78,000 lines and working fine. At least it was until the MS update. My spreadsheet was disabled as it was "not a valid 32 bit" program. I had to do a repair to get it functioning again and when it started up, a message appeared asking me if I would like to save my files in Excel. MS had a chance to keep me as a customer but lost me when they could not meet my requirements.

Is MS so bold and cocky that they would actually disable legally purchased software that does not belong to them? Are they tampering with XP to force us to upgrade? I am running Zone Alarm Extreme Security for protection and after much discussion with them, we have determined that it is not Zone Alarm blocking my browsers. It is possible that I have been hacked and my system is being controlled but the shutdown of my spreadsheet seems too coincidental.
