Guest Tory Corner Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 I recently purchased a new computer with Windows 7 Home Premium to replace my old computer with Windows XP. I have one specific program I have used for more than ten years for web design. It was legally purchased online. Unfortunately, the company no longer seems to exist and the possibility of getting a replacement download is non-existent other than the still-offered free copies which are labeled with ads. I have the exe file of the program which I placed in the program folder since I have no installation disk. I can manage to open the program but it doesn't respond past that point---it just keeps running without opening any of the pages I need to work on. Thinking that it was a Windows 7 versus Windows XP problem, I downloaded XP using Virtual Box (a nightmare all unto itself) and the program worked for all of an hour but then, it too, just kept running and not opening the necessary pages. I have run virus and malware scans on the computer. It is clean. Microsoft Fixit does nothing to rectify the problem. Windows tells me it is compatible. Has placing the file in the program folder created the problem? Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to get this program to work? Am I forced to reconnect my old PC in order to edit my web site? Continue reading... Quote
