So the dreaded Windows 8.1 upgrade was not successful. Unfortunately the System Restore was set to off (why would this be turned off by default?). So no restore points are available. The issue I have is no internet connection in spite of the fact that the connection shows active. I know of various people that have tried this upgrade to similar failures. Took System refresh route and will see what all that yields. What a mess.
