Posted May 14, 201410 yr Hi, I recently came across an issue which led me to believe that my Administrator account on a laptop had been switched to a Standard account. The User Account display showed that it was an administrator account but the radio button selected was for a Standard User. Thinking that the account type had been changed I tried to select Administrator but the Change Type button then became greyed out. I began to think I had some malware on my PC so called my Anti-virus provider and after a couple of calls they found out that the account was, in fact, still an administrator account and that the Standard User button was selected apparently in anticipation of me wanting to change it to that type. However, and here is the odd thing, on my desk top, the display is the exact opposite: if I log in as an administrator and go to Control Panel->Users->Change account Type, the pre-selected radio button is the administrator button and the Change Type button is greyed out. This strikes me as the obvious and intuitive display but what I can't understand is why, on 2 PCs each running Win 7 with all the updates, the displays are the opposite way around? Anyone got any idea why and whether the laptop display can be switched back? Continue reading...
