I am running windows 8.1 on an Acer Aspire M desktop.

GFX is Nvidia Geforce GT630

i used to be able to connect my TV , KDL 40EX720 sony bravia led 3D to my computer as a second screen, this worked like a charm in Vista,win7, but not so since i upgraded to my current desktop.

I discovered my TV is seen by the system as a digital mediarender, whatever that may be,but it wont allow me change this setting to simply view the TV as a monitor-class device.Neither windows nor Nvidia recognize the connected TV as a selectable monitor. Please dont suggest win+P , this was obviously already attempted.

The TV *detects* the signal allright,it indicates a connected device.switching ports on the TV didnt work either, but proved the connection is there.

tested the cable using a windows 7 laptop, still works fine, displays as intended.

The main issue is the way my system sees my TV : as a "digital media renderer" instead of a simple "monitor",how can i adjust this?
