Is there a way to stop MsMpEng from its huge commit size?

I have virtual memory turned off since I don't want any paging. 8GB should be enough, but msmpeng has a commit size of 1.2GB. Why can't it ask for memory only when it needs it instead of just asking for so much memory just in case. Is there any way to limit this so it can only reserve x amount of memory.
