Renesas USB 3.0 extensible host controller malfunction on a Samsung NP900x4c running Win 8

RENESAS USB 3.0 is now starred in yellow and no longer functions after a Win update.

 

I cannot find any downloadable fixes for laptops such as the Samsung NP900x4c

 

which came with Win8 which was then auto updated but the Renesas USB3.0 no longer functions

 

even though Windows says the latest drivers are installed.........but my ext mouse and keyboard no longer

 

function.........

 

Any ideas ?
