Posted May 8, 201410 yr Ever since J.D. Power started measuring consumer satisfaction with their tablets, the Apple iPad has ruled the rankings, and this year is no different. The latest satisfaction poll from J.D. Power shows Apple leading the pack, though trailed closely by Samsung, Asus, and Amazon. Said Kirk Parsons, senior director of telecommunications services at J.D. Power: "Price has significantly impacted the marketplace. The average purchase price continues to drop and consumer expectations of tablet performance and features are different than they were for past products. Subsequently, overall satisfaction has declined, especially with ease of operation, as navigation features and functions have changed." According the J.D. Power's analysis, the average selling price of tablets in the US has dropped by $53 over the last two years, and overall satisfaction has dropped a hair by 2%, likely thanks to the influence of those lower-priced tablets. That said, Apple has been playing a part in that drop of selling price with the introduction of the iPad Mini at $329, and then lowering the price a year later when releasing the Retina iPad Mini. But that lowest-priced iPad at $299 is nothing compared to the plethora of crappy Android tablets being sold for a third of that, as well as the pretty darn good Amazon Kindle Fire HDX and Google Nexus 7.
