How best to ship a Windows O/S installed tower computer as international cargo air/sea freight?

I have a tower computer with three SATA drives installed.

The primary C: drive is a dual boot drive with XP and Win 7 installed. The other two drives are data drives.

I want to minimise the potential for damage/loss of the drives during transit.

  1. Can I simply remove the 3 drives from the tower and re-install them without problems at a later date?
  2. I wonder, would the computer boot up ok after re-installing the drives?
  3. Would BIOS see the re-installed drives as NEW drives and therefore not go beyond POST or would BIOS recognise the drives as if they had never been removed?
  4. Would the Windows Operating System's boot up ok as if the drives had never been removed?

Both Windows XP and 7 operating system's are genuine M/S products and already registered with M/S but, are not retail editions.

Basically, I want to know can I take out the drives and put them back again without problems.

Experienced advice greatly appreciated please.

Many thanks.
