In the past month or so I have begun having problems with the antimalware service executable hogging the cpu.

I run the apache server on my W/8.1 PC for application testing. When I use my browser to access a local web page served by apache, the antimalware service executable consumes about 50% of the CPU time for 20-30 seconds and access to the web page is delayed during this interval. The url being accessed is in the trusted sites list (as it has been for some time).

I have no idea what I may have done to cause this problem. Access times on the local Apache server used to be split-second, now every local web page takes 20-30 seconds.
