Posted April 22, 201410 yr I have a new computer and am in the process of copying my files (using an external hard drive) from my old C:\ drive to my new one. Everything went very smoothly except: There is a folder in my Windows Explorer "Documents and Settings". I never use it because I have set up my own "filing system" based entirely on Windows Explorer folders and sub-folders. However, Windows continues to put "stuff" into "Documents and Settings". When I tried to copy this folder (to be on the safe side) copying was denied because of the presence of files NTUSER.DAT and ntuser.dat.LOG in C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator and NTUSER.DAT and NTUSER.DAT.LOG in C:\Documents and Settings\Default User. So three questions: 1. Do I need Documents and Settings or can I ignore this and stop attempting to transfer the files? 2. If I need this folder, can I safely just transfer the files and folders without transferring the NTUSER files? 3. what are these NTUSER files? Many thanks. Walter Continue reading...
