Posted April 17, 201410 yr I have been trying to figure out why my laptop freezes and shuts down when using the internet. There is no time frame…for example, I could merely open up my homepage and it freezes instantly, or I could be visiting several sites and it shuts down maybe five, ten, or fifteen minutes into using it. It is random. I have also tried using a different browser. I normally use the Internet Explorer and I usually don’t use Mozilla’s Firefox. I tried it with Firefox and it immediately shut down right when I opened up the homepage. I also noticed something else, when I shut it down and restart it, it seems to have a restore performed. Last night I made editing changes to a document. This morning when I went to review it again, it had been restored to before I made any changes. I did not set up and restore nor is it set up to be turned on automatically. I originally did a few restores to see if I could get rid of this problem of it freezing but that didn’t help I tried removing some recent downloads and that also didn’t work. These downloads are updates for Windows. I have read in other places that this might be a virus since it only seems to shut down a computer when ever the internet is accessed and not when working without being online. Restoring doesn’t help and I have run Malware anti virus and it found nothing. I have perform disk checks and defragged my hard drive, performed all kinds of clean ups and virus checks and it has found and done nothing over these last three days. Any experience with this anyone? Aside from doing a fresh restore of my hard drive, is there anything else I can try? Continue reading...
