XP won't boot up - just a blank dark screen before "Log on to Windows" appears.

I hooked up another hard drive and enabled the error check in Tools to check it upon restart. That's when this started. When I remove the drive everything is fine. There are actually 2 drives and they both have the same problem though I only enabled that check on one of them. So obviously the problem is not the hardware. I was able to check it with various utilities and everything was fine. I can't imagine XP has a problem dealing with 2 TB drives. I should also mention they were previously used on Linux.

Any ideas anyone? Anywhere to check to disable this check on restart thing?
