Acer FT200hql touchscreen won't work w/ HP Pavilion dv7-5000, Win 7 Pro, 64 bit

After researching and purchasing the FT200HQL touchscreen, it doesn't work w/ my HP Pavilion dv7-5000 laptop, Windows 7, 64 bit. I do have the USB cable plugged in (even though it says it's optional in the User's Guide - not optional if you want the touchscreen to work). I've tried it w/ an Acer, Gateway and another HP Pavilion laptop (all Win 7), & it works perfectly w/ them but not w/ mine. All my drivers are up to date. (Although there's no driver on Acer's website for the FT200HQL for Win 7 & I don't think what they have listed as a driver for Win 8 is a driver). A search of Microsoft for compatibility for the FT200HQL shows compatible and that there's nothing I have to do. Please help! I really like the monitor & don't want to send it back, but I bought it mainly for the touchscreen feature.
