Posted April 12, 201410 yr I'm not sure if my issue is similar to the other threads or not. Since patch Tuesday (what a beautiful day) I haven't been able to upgrade my Windows 8.1 with Media Center to Update 1. The weird thing is that Windows Update (which I thought was corrupt) was able to download and install ALL other updates just not the windows 8.1 update. The Issues Windows 8.1 Update gets stuck 3% download I use Windows Update Troubleshooter, performed sfc scan in an admin cmd prompt, I've stopped and restarted Windows Update services, rebooted etc. I go to Windows Update it tell me I have 1 update available (w00t!) and then it gets stuck at 18% downloaded and then I repeat the steps. I've been able to rename the Software Distribution folder but not the catroot2 because it ALWAYS (even after reboot) says its in use by another program. I'm at a lost of what to do, I've done all the BASIC Windows troubleshooting and I was able (thankfully) to update to Windows 8.1 on my DVP 8 Pro tablet with Zero issues. Just tried to do a manual update via http://www.neowin.net/news/windows-81-update-1-released-now-available-for-download links for Windows 8.1 x64 and that also failed to install (but downloaded fully w00t!)
